In this section we bring you some of the more ‘unusual’ food combinations that we have discovered over time. Some of them will perhaps at first sound strange, but they really do work, so give them a go and let us know what you think!
“We call them ‘weird but wonderful’ because they sound odd together but taste amazing.”

Toast and Sandwich Toppings

Marmite, almond butter and sriracha. (This one is a real eye-opener!) Peanut butter and (vegan) cheese. Peanut butter and sriracha. Marmite and peanut butter. Marmite and vegan cheese (cheese on toast with marmite). Baked beans with mango chutney on toast. Mushy peas with mint sauce on toast. Hoummus and mango chutney sandwich. Hoummus, avocado and marmite sandwich. Hoummus, avocado and sriracha sandwich.
And here’s a classic tip: Once you’ve made houmous from scratch (or bought it – no shame), add sriracha or chipotle paste to it and it becomes a totally different (and absolutely delicious) dip or spread.

Thinly Sliced Tofu

We get Taifun tofu (it’s a German smoked tofu brand). You can also buy it in blocks from some supermarkets. Slice it thinly and fry it in a little oil with a dash of tamari (you can use soy if you don’t have tamari). Get it nice and crisp on both sides. Now you can serve this in many ways: In a sandwich with salad and vegan mayo. On toast (instead of bacon). As a pizza topping. In a stir fry (just add at the last minute). On a salad for protein.
